Smart Lipo Laser Liposuction in South Florida
The
Food and Drug Administration has just approved a new, less-invasive technique
for liposuction using lasers. Some doctors say that this laser liposuction, more
commonlyknown as Smartlipo, is better and safer than the traditional
surgery. It can help patients lose a size or two with little down time, and without
the usual effects of loose, bumpy skin associated with traditional liposuction. Smartlipo
is a new less invasive form of liposuction that uses a laser to liquefy unwanted
fat on the waist, face, thighs, arms, or breasts. Using
a very small cannula (tube) a laser fiber is inserted into the skin. The cannula
is moved back and forth delivering the laser's energy directly to the fat cells,
causing them to rupture and easily drain away. Unlike traditional liposuction,
which commonly leaves skin loose and lax, the Smartlipo laser energy also interacts
with the dermis, resulting in collagen shrinkage and excellent skin retraction
offering wonderful results. "If
you do traditional liposuction, you can actually make the skin look worse. It
is pretty much like a deflated balloon," said Dr. Bruce Katz in a recent
interview with ABC News. Dr. Katz is director of the Juva Skin & Laser Center
in New York City. "This type of laser technology allows us to melt the fat
and tighten the skin at the same time." Smartlipo
takes about 45 minutes & uses a local anesthetic so patients are awake the
entire time. Patients do not need any stitches and can return to normal activity
within a week. However, Smartlipo surgery is not cheap, usually running between
$3K to $10K. There
are many doctors in South Florida that offer this new body contouring treatment.
Dr.
Dainel Mann of Boca Raton is probably one of the better known surgeons to
perform the treatment. Dr. Man was selected as one of the first plastic surgeon
in South Florida to use the procedure and his facility named a Smart Lipo Teaching
Center of Excellence. The
South Florida Center for Plastic Surgery, with offices in Ft. Lauderdale &
Miami also offer the Smartlipo treatment. The center offers this new procedure
for men and women within a normal BMI (body mass index), but with stubborn fat
deposits in a specific area like the buttocks, thighs, stomach, hips, knees or
arms. The
Center for Advanced Rejuvenation in Ft. Lauderdale, FL also offers Smartlipo.
The Center offers Smartlipo & other fat removal procedures for fatty areas
of the body, especially on the hips, thighs, stomach, flanks, arms, jowls, and
neck, that just won't go away, no matter how much we diet and exercise. Finally,
the Boca Raton Cosmetic Surgery
Center offers Smartlipo from their offices in Boca Raton. Dr. Jose Barrios
uses the State-of-the-Art Smartlipo LaserBodySculpting system. This machine provides
Dr. Barrios with a less invasive technique than conventional liposuction methods
for fat reduction and body toning. As the industry's only laser lipolysis system
designed to destroy fat cells and coagulate tissue for tighter skin, Smartlipo
is ideal for treating localized fat deposits on the face and body. More
